Obama Ends Dismal Week by Trying to Dispell So-Called Myths with Lies

This week the President used his weekly radio address to attempt to challenge his critics for what he calls “phony claims” about Heath Care Reform.

Here’s what the President said:

All four items President Obama brought up and heralded as untrue can all be found in one of the two versions of the health care reform bills either in the House or the Senate. I realize that the president doesn’t have time to read these lengthy bills, hell, I’m positive every member of the house that voted for their version didn’t read it before they voted nor have they read it since.

Lets take them one-by-one shall we…

1) Obama says Illegal immigrants will not receive insurance under reform – If this isn’t a lie, it’s completely disingenuous and intellectually dishonest.

Although the House version of the bill doesn’t explicitly call for Illegal immigrants to be covered there are many loop-holes and ambiguous language in the bill for anyone to see how Illegal immigrants will be able to benefit.

Pg 50 Section 152 in HC Bill – “covered by this Act shall be provided without regard to personal characteristics extraneous to the provision of high quality health care or related services.” ~ meaning HC will be provided to ALL non-U.S. citizens, illegal or otherwise? Sounds like it to me, and since it does how will this be interrupted by those tasked with implementing it? Also if Illegal immigrants aren’t going to be able to benefit why does Pg 170 Lines 1-3 say: Any NONRESIDENT Alien is exempt from individual taxes (Americans will pay). is’t this the left answer when talking Illegal immigration – “that they pay into SS and only here to work?”

Fact: there are no system in the bill for verifying citizenship!!!

P.S. Note that even Obama concedes illegals will continue to be treated free of charge in emergency rooms across the country. Also please note that we constantly hear from Obama that we have 47 million uninsured in this country, and we are told that the goal is for everyone to be covered — yet of that 47 million, anywhere from 15 percent to one-third are illegal, depending on whose estimates you accept. Even using the lower estimates, that brings the number down below 40 million. So there is clearly some intellectual dishonesty in operation here any way you slice it: Obama includes illegals in the number of uninsured “Americans” but claims he will not cover them.

Jack Martin, the director of special projects at the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), estimates that illegal immigrants cost federal and state governments some $10.7 billion in health care expenses annually – and that this number may well rise if some version of Obamacare is passed.

The problem, Martin figures, is in the fine print. Take the House bill. Although it does not explicitly cover illegal immigrants, Martin points out that neither does it “close loopholes for health insurance coverage.” Indeed, Democrats on the House Ways and Means Committee last month rejected an amendment by Nevada Republican Dean Heller that would have required the federal government to use the same database used to determine eligibility for welfare benefits to screen for citizenship as part of a government-run insurance plan. As a result, Martin told Front Page, “there is no system for the verification of identity, and the entitlement to receive those benefits. If that’s how the legislation ends up passing, we expect it to increase the outlays for health care services to illegal aliens.”

2) Abortions will not be funded under reform.

Again we know this is false and the president is again being disingenuous for the fact that he knows, as a lawmaker, unless you specifically provide an explicit exclusion for abortion coverage in the legislation, precedent shows that it will be interpreted to do just that hence the need for specific amendments such as the Hyde Amendment.

Debunking the Myth-Busters: Abortion is in Health Bills

Abortion is in the bills. Here’s the proof: Amendments to explicitly exclude abortion from the bills have been sponsored by Rep. Bart Stupak, Rep. Joe Pitts, Rep. Eric Cantor, Rep. Sam Johnson, Sen. Mike Enzi and Sen. Orrin Hatch. In every case, they lost. Want more proof? When Rep. Pitts asked Committee Counsel about whether the amendment by Rep. Lois Capps would allow the secretary of health and human services (HHS) to cover abortion in the public plan, he was told it did. And since HHS head Kathleen Sebelius supports partial-birth abortion, is there anyone in his right mind who thinks she would balk at authorizing abortion? Want more proof? On Aug. 10, when Rep. Zoe Lofgren was specifically asked about this subject, she said, “Abortion will be covered as a benefit by one or more of the healthcare plans available to Americans, and I think it should be.”

>Let’s be frank: abortion is no more mentioned specifically in these bills than appendectomies are, but because both are legal, both are understood to be included. That is why attempts to exclude abortion were made. That they failed should settle the issue. Yet the following pro-abortion groups continue to lie and say abortion isn’t covered: NARAL, Planned Parenthood, Center for American Progress and People for the American Way. Interestingly, MoveOn.org is firing e-mails all over debunking five myths about the bills. It is correct on all five. Noticeably absent from its list is abortion. That’s because they know it’s in the bills.

3) There are no “Death Panels”

Although, obviously these panels described in the bill didn’t take the moniker of “Death Panels” there’s more than enough proof that they existed in both versions of the bill. Sarah Palin won a decisive victory on this issue last week with the Senate saying they were removing that language from the bill.

Pg 425 Lines 4-12 Government mandates Advance [Death] Care Planning Consultion. Think Senior Citizens end of life.

Pg 425 Lines 17-19 Government will instruct and consult regarding living wills, durable powers of attorney. Mandatory!

Pg 425 Lines 22-25, 426 Lines 1-3 Government provides approved list of end of life resources, guiding you in death.

Pg 427 Lines 15-24 Government mandates program for orders for end of life. The government has a say in how your life ends.

Pg 429 Lines 1-9 An “advanced care planning consult” will be used frequently as patient’s health deteriorates.

Pg 429 Lines 10-12 ” advanced care consultation” may include an ORDER for end of life plans. AN ORDER from Government.

Pg 429 Lines 13-25 – The government will specify which doctors can write an end of life order.

PG 430 Lines 11-15 The government will decide what level of treatment you will have at end of life.

4) This is not a government takeover of Health Care.

This statement is patently absurd… in it’s current forms, and bearing a “Government-Run Public Option” there is no getting around the fact that this will lead crowding out and an eventual government-run system, it’s inevitable.

Due to the fact that the so-called “Public Option” doesn’t have to a) pay taxes, b) have to account for payroll and employee benefits, and c) only has to pay Medicare rates, which are 30% below cost for hospitals and 20% below cost for doctors… these simply no way that private insurers can compete! Employers would put their employees on the public system to lower costs by insensitivizing their workers with a small raise to do so!

The simple fact here is… in today’s radio address the President of the United States misrepresented the facts and the provisions in the health reform bills for nothing more than ideology agenda driven politics!

The Two Faces of Barack on Science and Global Warming

Dan Spencer reporting at RedState.com writes:

In his December 20, 2008 weekly address, President-elect Obama set forth some soaring rhetoric regarding science:

Because the truth is that promoting science isn’t just about providing resources – it’s about protecting free and open inquiry.  It’s about ensuring that facts and evidence are never twisted or obscured by politics or ideology.  It’s about listening to what our scientists have to say, even when it’s inconvenient – especially when it’s inconvenient.  Because the highest purpose of science is the search for knowledge, truth and a greater understanding of the world around us.  That will be my goal as President of the United States – and I could not have a better team to guide me in this work.

This video shows the time line of the story:

Suppressing Science in the Obama Administration

The EPA Suppresses a 98-page internal report that was skeptical of claims about global warming Declan McCullagh reports:

Less than two weeks before the agency formally submitted its pro-regulation recommendation to the White House, an EPA center director quashed a 98-page report that warned against making hasty “decisions based on a scientific hypothesis that does not appear to explain most of the available data.”

The EPA official, Al McGartland, said in an e-mail message (PDF) to a staff researcher on March 17: “The administrator and the administration has decided to move forward…and your comments do not help the legal or policy case for this decision.”

The e-mail correspondence raises questions about political interference in what was supposed to be an independent review process inside a federal agency–and echoes criticisms of the EPA under the Bush administration, which was accused of suppressing a pro-climate change document.

Our friend Dan Spencer reports:

E-mail messages released this week show that Alan Carlin, the primary author of the 98-page EPA report, was ordered not to “have any direct communication” with anyone outside his small group at EPA on the topic of climate change, and was informed that his report would not be shared with the agency group working on the topic.

The suppressed Carlin report was especially inconvenient for Obama’s cap and trade push:

Carlin’s report listed a number of recent developments he said the EPA did not consider, including that global temperatures have declined for 11 years; that new research predicts Atlantic hurricanes will be unaffected; that there’s “little evidence” that Greenland is shedding ice at expected levels; and that solar radiation has the largest single effect on the earth’s temperature.

If there is a need for the government to lower planetary temperatures, Carlin believes, other mechanisms would be cheaper and more effective than regulation of carbon dioxide. One paper he wrote says managing sea level rise or reducing solar radiation reaching the earth would be more cost-effective alternatives.

Just another case in point that clearly shows  Obama and his administration will do anything to advance his agenda up to and including lying to the American people and suppressing scientific data.
