This Guy Makes Some Really Good Points…..[Saturday Afternoon Open Thread]

Watch this absolutely hysterical video below. Yes, this guy (Louis CK) is a comedian appearing in a guest spot on The Conan O’Brien Show. However, he makes some excellent points about what a spoiled generation that we have become with a raging sense of entitlement.

I even see myself in his comments. I sometimes fight the urge to smack my computer when it doesn’t behave exactly how I want it to, forgetting about the fact that I didn’t even own a computer until around ten years ago. Oh, and the rotary phones that he was talking about–my family had one of those when I was growing up. And yet, here I am constantly complaining about my cell phone reception, when I didn’t even own a cell phone until around four years ago when I went to medical school and had to have one (now, it’s all I use).

Oh, and finally, a hat tip to my most excellent Dad who emailed me this hilarious video. Enjoy and have a nice weekend.

…And There Go Those Middle Class Tax Cuts: Another Campaign Promise Broken!

Well, well, well, lookie here! I hope all of you middle class folks that pinned your HOPE and CHANGE on getting tax cuts from “Teh One” are paying close attention to what’s happening here and starting to awaken to the fact that you were sold a bill of goods!

Jake Tapper reports: Obama’s Middle Class Tax Cut May Not Survive Budget

President Obama’s budget chief hinted Wednesday that the president’s signature campaign issue — a middle-class tax cut — will not likely survive a budget battle with Democrats on Capitol Hill.

On a conference call with reporters in advance of the president’s trip to the Hill to speak before the Senate Democratic caucus, Office of Management and Budget Director Peter Orszag indicated that, while 98 percent of the budget mark-ups in the House and Senate are on par with the administration’s budget blueprint, some campaign trail promises, like middle-class tax cuts, may get left on the cutting room floor.

The administration had tied the revenue raised from its environmental “cap-and-trade” proposal to the middle-class tax cuts — known as the “Making Work Pay” tax credit for families — both of which have been brought up as possibilities to be scrapped from the Senate and House budget resolution.

Man, am I drowning in all this HOPE and CHANGE!!!

Lounging at a Basketball Game Doesn’t Inspire Confidence Mr. President

It’s a good thing we’re not in the middle of an economic crisis or anything… because this could have made the president look like he wasn’t working hard enough!

Look, I realize we all need some downtime but this is ridiculous! This country is experiencing real hardship and serious problems… and we need serious people to solve them.

Holding silly-ass online townhall meetings, stumping all around the country on issues that have little to no relevance to our current problems, and taking every opportunity to get your mug on Leno and other celebrity one-stops is a clear indication to most observers that “Teh One” cares more about being a Celebrity-in-Chief than Commander-in-Chief

Of all the things one can say about President Bill Clinton (and one could say a lot) and his successor George W Bush (and one could say a lot about him as well) the one thing you can’t say is they didn’t love, and give themselves over entirely to the act of managing the country. For better or worse both men were well versed and seasoned managers, and becoming a manager doesn’t lend itself easily to on the job training. These two men were qualified and experienced managers and it showed in their respective tenures.

In contrast Barack Obama has zero managerial experience, having run nothing, no business, no city, no state, apart from running the fiscal arm of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge (CAC) that distributed grants to schools and raised matching funds which, it turns out, was a miserable failure!

Governing requires specific skill sets that are learned by rising through a corporate, or government structure, it also requires one to present.

It’s been just over 60+ days since President Obama took office, and in that time, our country has continued to suffer. Blame can be cast in many directions and is a topic for another post but one thing that must be addressed is the appearance that Obama isn’t working hard enough for us and as we all know – “in politics perception is everything”.

Is it too much to ask that for 3 or 4 months the President hunker down in the Oval Office and attend to the immediate problems we’re facing rather than running around trying to be Celebrity-in-Chief instead of Commander-in-Chief?

The Proper Way to Get Obama's Attention

Dear Mr. President, I figured other than with a killer deal on some real estate this was the best way to get you to pay attention to me considering your proclivity for scrolling text. Just wanted to give you the heads up before you jet to London for the G20 that there is more than one reason China has been urging others to drop the dollar. Yeah, I know, the conventional wisdom is that it would hurt them as much as it would us- but I am betting their population can handle harsh conditions just a little better than ours. Word to the wise, that old guy in the eighties you compared yourself to in the campaign; do you remember how he vanquished the evil empire? Please, close the purse strings and open up your eyes!

Much Thanks to BBK for this
